It's interesting because I have a few friends and associates who really try to follow the Jesus way, and that leads people in their communities to think they are mentally ill.
Because following the Jesus way is crazy.
We're not socialized to see counter-cultural, anti-imperial lifestyles as something to be celebrated, but rather something to be feared and controlled.
It's always been like this.
Because Jesus' message never blends with the dominant culture or preserves the world as it is, but rather it challenges the power and continues to compel people to make the world as it should be.
Otherwise called the kingdom of God.
But since I don't live in a physical kingdom, and never will, I'll call it the world as it should be.
When you live to create that world, people think you are crazy.
One day Jesus was teaching about this new world as it should be, and his family showed up to perform an intervention.
Because their son and little brother, Jesus, had gone crazy.
When told that his family was outside, Jesus told the crowd that his family were those who made the world as it should be.
Tough answer
but that's crazy Jesus.

Good perspective. Jesus offered simple answers, but they were rarely easy.
Pick up your instrument of torture and death and follow me... Crazy Jesus...
Yeah, I had to remember today that his message was always counter cultural. Maybe that's what resonates with people. His message is transcendental!
